The story takes place in California, five years after the end of World War II. Jack Waters is called in to investigate the accidental death of a German scientist at a private research lab. The scientist turns out to be connected to an underground research lab Mittelwerk at the Mittelbau-Dora WWII concentration camp. Waters must revisit his role in the liberation of the camp and the mysterious fate of his brother.
